Course aims:
This course gives you the chance to learn about aspects of becoming self-employed, network with others in the same position as you, and speak to local business people that have actually done it.

1 session of 3 hours
Who is this course for?
This course is suitable for anyone who has a business idea and is thinking about how they can take it further. It is also suitable for anyone that is looking at self-employment as a career option.
Will I gain any qualifications?
You will receive a BAES certificate of attendance.
Do I need any knowledge, skills or qualifications?
You do not need any prior knowledge, skills or qualifications. You will need a basic level of literacy to complete the course.
Course content
Explore the key requirements of starting an enterprise such as creating a business plan, exploring your own ideas for setting up a business and how to get funding.
What could this course lead to?
You could progress to our Have a go at Creating a Business course, which is a series of four workshops focusing on business planning, marketing and finance/grants.
How will I learn?
You will learn through group discussions, guest speakers and teacher led information.
Your commitments as a learner
You must attend all for the whole session. If you already have a business idea, bring any information you have already researched about it. You may be asked to share your business idea within your group. Also bring a pen and paper to take notes.
