Computerised Accounts Sage - Level 2 (Award)

Course aims

To develop practical computerised accounts skills by performing routine and non-routine accounting tasks using industry standard software (Sage) and obtain a qualification.

Course length

30 guided learning hours.

Who is this course for?

Anyone interested in working in a finance-related job, and who already has IT skills at level 1. This course is not suitable for complete IT beginners.

Will I gain any qualifications?

Yes, Computerised Accounts - Level 2 Award (City & Guilds)

Do I need any prior knowledge, skills or qualifications?

No formal qualifications are required, but you must be able to use a computer to a good (Level 1 Computerised Accounts) standard, be able to navigate around a computer’s basic functions unaided and have English and maths to at least level 1 standard. Most learners will hold a level 1 finance qualification prior to the start of the course. Knowledge of double entry bookkeeping is helpful but not essential.

Course content

  • Computerised Accounts using Sage
  • Post Customer, Supplier and Nominal Ledger transactions e.g. invoices, credit notes, payments including allocation, discounts
  • Calculate and reconcile batch totals as required
  • Produce a trial balance
  • Produce Customer, Supplier and nominal Ledger reports
  • Process returned and cancelled cheques
  • Process transfers between bank accounts and cash accounts
  • Process nominal journal entries
  • Produce remittance advices
  • Produce purchase and sales day book summaries
  • Produce aged debtor and creditor analyses

What could this course lead to?

A job in accounts and further study in professional/financial sector or further study. Potential starting salaries in accountancy £22,000-£26,500. Source: The Times Top 100 employers 2019.

How will I learn?

In a classroom environment using course material. There will be group discussions, tutor-led demonstrations, tutorials, small groups, individual and peer teaching. Learners will record their own progress and have their work checked regularly throughout the course. Regular attendance is essential.

What materials or equipment will I need to provide?

You will need to provide a notebook, pen and calculator.
