Learning Disabilities - Level 2 Award

Course aims

This qualification provides learners with the opportunity to develop their knowledge and skills around supporting individuals with learning disabilities. It is aimed at learners who support individuals with learning disabilities as part of their job role.

Course length

25 weeks, 3.5 hours per week = 87.5 hours

Who is the course for?

Learners must be at least 19 years old. This qualification is for those working with or looking to work with and support others to learn.

All applicants must be interviewed prior to being accepted onto the course.

Will I gain any qualifications?

NCFE CACHE Level 2 Award in Supporting Individuals with Learning Disabilities

Do I need any knowledge, skills or qualifications?

Yes, you must be working towards English at Level 2 or GCSE Grade A-C and maths at level 1 or equivalent.

What could this course lead to?

Job roles include:

  • SEN opportunities.
  • Support worker.
  • Teaching assistant.
  • Childcare worker.
  • Early Years practitioner.

  • Understand the context of supporting individuals with learning disabilities
  • Introductory awareness of autistic spectrum conditions
  • Understand physical disability
  • Introductory awareness of models of disability
  • Understand mental health problems

How will I learn?

Your qualification will be assessed by your tutor using a range of methods. You will complete a portfolio of evidence throughout the course.

What materials or equipment will I need to provide?

Paper, writing equipment and a folder.

To achieve success on the course you will need to:

  • Attend regularly and on time. If you need to miss a class, please let us know in advance, if possible.
  • Have sufficient time for self-study and completion of homework.
  • Complete the course.
  • Complete all the assessments.
