Course aims

This course will provide you with an introduction to the attitudes, skills and knowledge required for working within the business administration services environment. The course will support you in preparation for the Level 2 Business Administration

12 weeks – 30 hours

Who is this course for?

This course is for learners who are interested in gaining an introduction to business and administration or who would like to develop their employability skills within the sector. If you want to gain an insight in to types of business organisations, purpose of organisational charts, the functional areas of business, to learn how to communicate effectively with colleagues and gain skills needed for team work, then this course is ideally suited to you.

Will I gain any qualifications?

Yes - Level 1 Award in Principles of Business and Administration

Do I need any prior knowledge, skills or qualifications?

You are required to have English skills at Entry 3 or above. You must be able to successfully complete the initial assessment to secure a place on the course.

Course content

On the course, you will cover the following topics:

  • Purpose and structure of business organisations
  • The role of an administrator in a business organisation
  • The importance of environmental sustainability in a business organisation
  • Working in a safe way in a business environment
  • Acting professionally in a business environment
  • Equality and Diversity in a business environment
  • The importance of confidentiality and security in an organisation

What could this course lead to?

  • Progression to Level 2 in Business Administration
  • Further study at Level 1 in complementary courses i.e. Customer Service
  • Voluntary work experience in the Business sector

How will I learn?

You will be taught by a tutor and each unit will require you to complete an assignment to demonstrate your knowledge and understanding of the units. One to one tutor support will be available. This course may include presentations, role play and group work.

The most important resource you will have is your willingness and enthusiasm to learn.
