Course aims

This course will enable learners to develop skills and knowledge directly relevant to the business and administration sector. The course will support learners in preparation for employment or a level three course in this area.

Up to 70 hours of guided learning

Who is this course for?

Learners who are interested in employment in business and administration or would like to develop their work related skills to a higher level. If you want to gain greater insight into how to create formal documents, how to support formal and informal meetings in a business environment, how to use Word software and the Internet effectively, this course is ideally suited to you.

Will I gain any qualifications?

Yes - Level 2 Certificate in Principles of Business and Administration

Do I need any prior knowledge, skills or qualifications?

Learners are required to have English skills at level 1 or above. A level 1 qualification in Business administration could also be useful. You must be able to successfully complete the initial assessment to secure a place on the course.

Course content

On the course learners will cover the following topics:

  • Personal responsibilities and working in a business environment.
  • Providing administrative services.
  • Managing information and producing documents.
  • Reception Services
  • Supporting business events and meetings
  • Solving problems in a business environment
  • Professional behaviour

What could this course lead to?

  • Progression to level 3 e.g. to an access to HE course
  • Further study at level 2 in complementary courses ie Customer Service
  • Employment in the Business sector

How will I learn?

You will be taught by a tutor and each unit will require learners to complete an assignment to demonstrate their knowledge and understanding of the units. One to one tutor support will be available. This course may include presentations, role play and group work.
