Length of course

12 Guided Learning Hours - usually 6 weekly sessions of 2 hours.

Course aims

To start to develop the skills and knowledge required to use simple software tools to create a web page.

Learning outcomes

By the end of the course learners will:

  • Understand what is involved in web page design
  • Know what constitutes an effective web page
  • Explore a software tool to create a web page
  • Create a simple web page
  • Amend a simple web page to make it suitable for a particular purpose.

Who is the course for?

The course is suitable for learners with some IT skills who are interested in knowing about web design.

Do I need any knowledge, skills or qualifications?

You will need to have English at level 1 or above and have basic knowledge of web browsers and word processing.

Will I gain any qualifications?

No, this is a non-accredited course.

How will I learn?

You will work alone, in pairs or in groups led by a specialist IT tutor.

What could this course lead to?

You could progress to a more in-depth course such as Websites Apps & Programming - Level 1.

What materials or equipment will I need to provide?

You will need a pen, notepad and a folder to store hand-outs and completed exercises. You will also need to supply a memory stick.

Your commitment as a learner

To achieve success on the course you will need to attend regularly and be on time. If you need to miss a class, please let us know in advance.

You will need to ensure that you allow sufficient time for self-study and complete any homework set. You will be expected to complete all assessments and complete the full course.
