Course aims

To be able to create your database to meet your own or employer requirements.

Course length

9 hours - usually 3 weeks x 3 hours.

Who is this course for?

The course is suitable for those who want to update an existing database or create a new one from scratch.

Will I gain any qualifications?

No, but you will receive a BAES certificate of attendance.

Do I need any prior knowledge, skills or qualifications?

You need to have used a computer before. The course is not suitable for complete beginners to IT.

Course content

By the end of the course you will be able to:

  • Amend an existing database
  • Design and create a new database
  • Find information from a database
  • Enter new records using a form
  • Design a simple report

What could this course lead to?

You can use what you learn at work eg to set up a database of customers, or at home eg to save a list of addresses so that you can produce address labels.

You could consider doing a further IT qualification, depending on your skill level, such as IT Skills For Work or ECDL Level 1 or 2.  Enrol on one of our Get Ready For Work Workshops to enhance your chances of gaining employment

How will I learn?

You will be taught in a group and through individual practice, with assistance from your tutor.
