Course details

This short course focuses on intermediate skills and techniques. Learn how to use your camera and take creative control. This is a hands-on practical course with enrichment visits to develop your camera and image editing skills further.

What to expect from the course

  • Develop skills to enhance your current practice through project based activities.
  • Explore photography styles and advance your knowledge through themed research and activities to consider both classic and current photography trends. 
  • Photographic post-production: Develop skills to enhance your images using image editing software
  • Learn how to plan your image taking with post processing in mind
  • You will be expected to work independently and engage in group tasks in order to develop your skills and knowledge. The course covers a range of techniques, skills, sustainability an awareness of employment other opportunities in the subject.

Entry requirements

Interest in the Creative Arts and Design/ Photography. No formal entry requirements. At intermediate level you will need a referral from the tutor who will assess if the course is suitable for you at this level. This can be arranged prior to enrolment.

You will need some IT knowledge, this course is suitable for learners who have used image editing software and have prior knowledge of basic camera control use.

Initial course resources / Additional cost

You will need a DSLR/mirrorless camera. Some tools and computers and software available you your use at the Centre. You may wish to purchase some tools and materials to complete your work, this can be discussed with your tutor if required.
