Understanding SEND Workshop (BAES)

5 Hours - 1 day workshop.

Course aims

The workshop is designed to gain an insight into Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND). Find out more about the support available to children and young people with additional needs.

In 2018 - 2019, there were 23,761 jobs available in Birmingham with an average salary of £ 24,117.

Learning outcomes

By the end of the course candidates should be able to:

  • Identify individual differences
  • Explore what is SEND
  • Discuss various disabilities
  • An opportunity to understand the skills and discuss competencies involved in working with SEND children and Young people.

Who is the course for?

The course is suitable for those:

  • Individuals who want to understand more about SEND
  • Anyone who is interested in finding out more about the system which supports children and young people with additional needs.

Do I need any knowledge, skills or qualifications?

Learners require no prior qualifications, only a desire to learn more combined with a willingness to share their own thoughts in within a confidential environment.

Learning on the course will include tutor input, group discussion, experimental learning and individual reflection.

  • Level 2 EYE
  • Level 2 STLS
  • An optional unit within STLS Level 3

What materials or equipment will I need to provide?

Writing material and an A4 size folder.
