Learning today for a brighter tomorrow
Birmingham Adult Education Service (BAES) is one of the largest adult learning providers nationally with around 8,000 adults studying with us every year.
We are a “first steps” provider and a perfect way to get back into learning if you have been out of education for a while, or school wasn’t a comfortable fit. Our part-time courses begin at basic entry levels and progress up to level 3 qualification courses (A level equivalent).
Our first IWD conference
Birmingham Adult Education Service recently hosted our first International Women’s Day Conference at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire.
The conference embodied this year’s theme for International Women’s Day of Inspire Inclusion. We welcomed Kalvinder Kohli from Birmingham City Council, Clare Hatton from the West Midlands Combined Authority and Councillor Suleman, who along with other speakers shared their personal stories with the audience.
LGBTQ+ Conference
On Wednesday 29 February our Special Educational Needs & Disability (SEND) Team organised a conference at Brasshouse Centre.
The aim of the conference was for SEND learns to gain a greater understanding and knowledge of LGBTQ+ History. The organisers invited Dr Emily Garside as a keynote speaker, a writer and researcher who works extensively within the LGBTQ+ community.
