Do you love writing? Have you got a fantastic creative story to tell? Or maybe a memory or significant moment you're keen to share?

If the answer is YES - we want you to take part in our Winter in the City writing competition and send us your poem, short story, letter or diary entry. Book token prizes are available in both adult and children categories.

We can't wait to hear your stories about Winter in the City

You could write about your plans for the this winter or an account of a holiday in the past, write a description of something you’ve seen or tried for the first time this year. We're really excited to see what you share with us. You can even supply an image if you wish, this could be photos you have taken, images from the internet or even pictures you have sketched or painted yourself.

Now that you have some ideas for what you can write about, let’s get started!

The rules of the competition are as follows:

  • The writing must have the title Winter in the City.
  • Children must state their names and ages on their work, adults must simply state their names and 'Adult'.
  • The work can be handwritten or typed.
  • All entries must be sent to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. by Saturday 31st December 2022.
  • You can photograph the work or send it as an email attachment.

The competition is open to anyone, you don’t need to be a BAES learner to enter. You can also enter the competition as many times as you like, so long as each entry has the title Winter in the City.

We hope that you have fun writing and entering the competition, we look forward to reading your entries!

Winners will be notified by email by Saturday 28 January. Book token prizes are available in both adult and children categories.
