Floristry - Weddings - Advanced

Course aim

To enable learners to explore and develop advanced levels of floristry skills to produce floral designs for a wedding. Enable learners to plan, prepare and produce arrangements to an advanced level.

Who is this course for?

This course is for those who wish to extend their skill and knowledge in floristry to an advanced level.

Will I gain any qualifications?

No - this is a non-accredited course.

Do I need any knowledge, skills or qualifications?

As the course involves taking notes and measurements you will need to have basic levels of English and Maths. You will have a short initial assessment at the start of the course to ensure that it is suitable for you.

Course content

By the end of this course you will:

  • To package and gift wrap finished items to a high standard.
  • How to produce designs with commonly used flowers and foliage appropriate for a wedding such as bouquets.
  • To use primary and secondary colours and how to combine them for effect.
  • To collect and develop ideas from a variety of sources.
  • To discuss and record ideas and adapt according to feedback and circumstances.
  • To produce a range of design arrangements based on planning and research to set assignments.
  • To produce finished work demonstrating a high level of skill.
  • To present finished designs to good effect and carry out verbal and written evaluation of finished material.
  • Use and appropriate plant material, store tools and equipment safely in line with health and safety regulations.
  • An awareness of employment opportunities in the Floristry industry.
  • How to produce a portfolio of evidence, showing skills, development, research and finished work.

What could this course lead to?

Level 3 study in floristry.

  • By experimenting and exploring equipment, materials, tools and techniques.
  • Through individual research and evaluation.
  • One to one support when necessary.
  • By keeping a portfolio of evidence.

What materials or equipment will I need to provide?

For the first session you will only need to bring a pen and writing pad, floristry materials required for this session will be provided by your tutor. For future lessons, your tutor will advise you on what other materials to purchase for each session.

Important - in addition to the course fees, flowers and foliage will cost between £3 and £10 per session.

Your commitment as a learner

To achieve success on the course you will need to attend regularly, and on time. If you need to miss a class, please let us know in advance.

You will need to ensure that you allow sufficient time for self-study, complete any homework set and bring the correct materials to each session. You will be expected to complete all assessments and complete the full course.
