Information Advice & Guidance - Level 2 Certificate

Course aims

The purpose of this qualification is to develop your knowledge and understanding of the key principles of information, advice or guidance and to enable you to be able to apply these within their own context. It will prepare you for further training and support a role where you may give initial information, advice or guidance to others.2

Course length 

 6 workshops, plus tutorials. 

Who is the course for?

This qualification is suitable for those employed or working voluntarily in a range of roles where the provision of information, advice or guidance is a requirement. 

Entry requirements 

You will need to have English skills at level 2 and have experience of delivering IAG as part of an organisation.

Course content 

You will learn about: 

  • information, advice or guidance in context and practice
  • interaction skills for information, advice or guidance
  • signposting and referral in information, advice or guidance
  • managing information in information, advice or guidance

Will I gain any qualifications?

You will gain a CACHE Level 2 Certificate in Information, Advice or Guidance. 

How will I learn?

The course will be delivered by a tutor through 6 workshops. You will be expected to take part in group and paired activities and discussions. You will be expected to further your learning through independent study and build a portfolio of evidence.

What could this course lead to?;

Progression advice can be provided by a Learning Support Co-ordinator. This can be arranged by the course tutor.

Your responsibilities as a learner on this course 

You will need to attend all workshops and tutorials. 

What materials or equipment will I need to provide? 

A4 folder, dividers, pens and paper. 

Other information 

Completion is expected within the academic year. Learners whose completion is delayed may be subject to an additional assessment fee. 

Interview and initial assessment

You will need to complete a written assessment and undertake a one to one discussion prior to enrolling onto a course. This is mandatory for all learners.
